All Mountain Snowboard Team

All Mountain Snowboard Team

9 to 12-years-old

Program Overview

The Development (Devo) All Mountain Snowboard Program is tailored for intermediate snowboarders aged 9 to 12. This non-competitive, non-travel team is perfect for those who have previously taken snowboard lessons, as we do not provide beginner lessons.

Participants should be able to safely load and unload a chairlift with only their front foot strapped in, execute a J-turn stop to the right and left on green and blue runs, and link 'heel' and 'toe' side turns on intermediate terrain (blue runs off Lakeview Chair).

The program emphasizes a comprehensive, boundary-to-boundary snowboarding experience, focusing on refining All Mountain skills, fundamentals, and snowboarder etiquette. Key skills covered in the program include:

  • Safety
  • Navigating bumps
  • Riding switch
  • Beginner terrain park skills and etiquette
  • Carving
  • Off-piste and glade (tree) riding
  • Jumps
  • Powder riding
  • Speed control through turn shape and size

We foster a positive and supportive team atmosphere centered on adventure, safety, exploration, and respect. This environment encourages solid decision-making skills and provides numerous opportunities for skill development, aiming to prepare athletes for future advanced programs. All training sessions are held exclusively at Diamond Peak, ensuring no travel requirements.

Required Equipment

Families are responsible for supplying essential equipment for the All Mountain Snowboard Team program. This includes:

  • Snowboard Gear: An All Mountain snowboard, well-fitting snowboard boots, and appropriate bindings.
  • Protective Gear: A helmet, back protector, and goggles (multiple lenses recommended for varying light conditions).
  • Winter Clothing: Warm, waterproof gloves, fleece, wool or synthetic layers, down jackets, and snowboard pants.
  • Accessories: Water, snacks, and sunscreen must be carried at all times while riding.

The Diamond Peak Ski Team offers team jackets available through a seasonal lease program.

To ensure proper gear sizing and suitability, it is recommended that athletes and families consult coaches before making any purchases. All equipment must be approved by coaches before on-snow training sessions begin.
